Running Red Hat Linux 6.1 (Cartman, 1999) on a Virtual Machine

Third post on the series of old Red Hat Linux distros running on a virtual machine. This time, Red Hat Linux 6.1 (Cartman, 1999).

Previous Posts:
Red Hat Linux 4.2 (Biltmore, 1997)
Red Hat Linux 5.0 (Hurricane, 1997)

Red Hat Linux 6.1 now has a X based installation UI. Gtk based.

Gnome and KDE are starting to make a name for themselves.

Another nice piece of the installation, account creation.

Red Hat Linux 6.1 version information

Red Hat Linux 6.1 GDM - gnome version 1.0.39

A view of the GNOME 1.0.39 desktop.

Surprisingly the menu on Gnome still looks a lot the same... Not sure if that's a good or bad thing :-)

Red Hat Linux 6.1 comes with Netscape 4.6.
