Running Red Hat Linux 7.2 (Enigma, 2001) on a Virtual Machine

Final post related to old Red Hat ditros running on Virtual Machines. Red Hat 7.2 (Enigma, 2001) running on kernel 2.4.x . I couldn't get X running right away, so I decided to take a shot at trying to compiling and installing VMWare Tools, and it actually worked!

Previous Posts:
Red Hat Linux 4.2 (Biltmore, 1997)
Red Hat Linux 5.0 (Hurricane, 1997)
Red Hat Linux 6.1 (Cartman, 1999)

Update: I ended up posting two more versions: Red Hat Linux 9 and Fedora Core Linux 1.

Red Hat Linux 7.2 brings a much more polished GUI, plus it has a 2-disc install.

Another shot for the installer.

Gnome 1.4 on Red Hat Linux 7.2. A couple of new features introduced between 6.1 and 7.2 were: grub as the boot loader and ext3 file system.

First sign of the Red Hat Network.

Not perfect yet, but Google is looking much better on Mozilla 0.9.2.1.

Red Hat Linux 7.2 version information.

Gimp 1.2.1
